As soon as I get in my car to go it is at the half way mark as far as cold/hot. Then it races up to H and then my car starts dinging that I need to turn car off because engine is over heated. Then it goes right back down to half way even if I do not pull over. I had all fluids checked day before yesterday when I had oil changed.It could also be your coolant sensor, it won't throw check engine untill it happens a few times, can't remember the code but it's a cheap part kinda hard to get to but doable with a small ratcheting wrench.
